Lebanese singer Majida El Roumi sang with the audience for love and peace on Wednesday evening, at the closing of the 60th edition of the Carthage International Festival in Tunisia.

The closing ceremony was held at the ancient Roman Theater of Carthage in northern Tunisia, amidst a large audience turnout.

El Roumi asked the audience to sing with her for goodness, love, and peace, saying: "I don't consider this a concert, but a wedding, and at a wedding, we all sing. Let's sing for love and peace."

She added: "Let's lift the barriers and break the rules. I want to live a day of joy with you, I want to sing with you, and I want to live and see your precious faces."

She continued, before shaking the theater with her songs: "It is a great honor to close this festival."

On Monday, El Roumi told the Tunis Afrique Presse news agency that she had been preparing for some time for her concert at the closing of the Carthage Festival, especially as it marks her return after an absence of about 8 years.

El Roumi performed her famous songs, in addition to 3 new songs, as well as Tunisian and folkloric songs as a tribute to the Tunisian people.

According to an Anadolu correspondent, long queues were seen since Wednesday afternoon waiting to enter Majida El Roumi's concert, and the attendance exceeded the theater's capacity of 12,000 people.

The Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, Amina Srarfi, also attended the concert, along with foreign diplomatic figures.

The 60th edition of the Carthage Festival began on July 16 with a concert by Tunisian singer Saber Rebaï, and featured 20 diverse evenings.
