Our Youth Team Continues Preparations for Gulf Cup Opener Against Iraq

The national youth team held a training session in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Thursday evening, in preparation for facing their Iraqi counterparts this Saturday, at the start of their campaign in the U-17 Gulf Cup.
The session took place on field number (2) at Qatar University, during which the technical staff, led by national coach Anwar Ashour, focused on recovery exercises to alleviate travel fatigue. This included light ball and fitness drills, and tactical exercises, before conducting a scrimmage among the players characterized by enthusiasm and competition. The session concluded with stretching exercises to reduce muscle load and restore physical readiness.
Our country is participating in the tournament hosted by Doha from October 16 to November 4, 2026, in Group B, which includes Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and Egypt.
An atmosphere of determination and high morale prevails within the national team's delegation, with the players looking forward to delivering a strong performance, building on their showing in the recent West Asian Championship, where they achieved four victories and reached the final before losing to Lebanon on penalties and finishing in second place.
