Six sources told Reuters that loud explosions were heard on Tuesday evening in Dhahran near the headquarters of Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil company and the backbone of the Kingdom's economy, amidst a fierce war between the Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen and the Saudi-led coalition.

Aramco has not issued any official comment. A source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters that the Aramco headquarters was shelled, and it was unclear whether the building was directly attacked or hit by debris.

One source mentioned that the Aramco headquarters in Dhahran, the center of the Saudi oil sector in the Eastern Province, caught fire. Four sources reported that an order was issued to evacuate the building.

The Saudi-led coalition stated that shrapnel from a missile intercepted and destroyed by its forces in Dhahran fell on a residential area, without providing further details.

Authorities reported that drones and missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed in the capital, Riyadh, and the southern region of the Kingdom.

For a week, the Houthis have been launching ballistic missiles and drones at key Saudi sites in response to the Kingdom's support for government forces against the group in Yemen's renewed civil war.

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was subjected to four raids, one of which resulted in 13 deaths on Saturday.

The Houthis announced earlier that Saudi Arabia was attacking the Yemeni capital, and the Saudi-led coalition ordered civilians to stay away from an oil depot located on the outskirts of Sanaa.

The Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah channel reported that the Kingdom-led coalition targeted the Al-Sabahia Central Station, a fuel depot on the outskirts of Sanaa belonging to the Yemen Petroleum Company.
