The national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella was launched on Saturday in all districts of Shabwa governorate, targeting 118,739 children aged between six and 59 months.

Shabwa's Deputy Governor, Ahmed Al-Daghari, emphasized the campaign's importance in strengthening preventive health interventions and protecting children from the risks of measles, rubella, and their complications. He stressed the need for integrated official and community efforts to ensure the campaign's success, facilitate the tasks of health teams, and guarantee they reach all targeted children without exception.

Al-Daghari called on parents to positively engage with the campaign and take their children to health teams and centers to be vaccinated, considering vaccines a safe and effective means of preventing diseases, protecting children's health, and boosting community immunity.

For his part, the Deputy Director of the Shabwa Health Office, Salem bin Suray', stressed the importance of adhering to comprehensive field coverage for the campaign and intensifying community awareness about vaccination to ensure the campaign's objectives are met and the target rate is reached across all the governorate's districts.

In the same context, the Director of the Expanded Program on Immunization in the governorate, Ali Salem Al-Khulaifi, explained that 285 health teams are implementing the campaign, supervised by 74 general supervisors, 51 district-level supervisors, and six governorate-level supervisors, in addition to three supervisors from the Ministry of Public Health and Population. This ensures field supervision, monitoring of the campaign's progress, and reaching the targeted groups in various areas and population centers in the governorate's rural regions.
