Tenerife Striker Dies After Strong Collision with Andorra Goalkeeper

Spanish club Tenerife announced on Tuesday the death of its striker, Jesús de Miguel Alameda, 30, due to injuries from a strong collision with the FC Andorra goalkeeper during the teams' Spanish second division match on Monday.
The club said in a statement that it announces "with broken hearts" the player's death on Tuesday morning, November 3, 2026, expressing deep sorrow for the loss and offering condolences to his family, loved ones, and the club's fans.
It added that the player's family expressed their gratitude to all who sent messages of support and sympathy, asking for their privacy to be respected in these circumstances.
De Miguel was injured in the final minutes of the match between Tenerife and visiting team Andorra, after colliding with the visiting team's goalkeeper, Jesús Oono, who had rushed out of the penalty area to clear a long ball, before the striker fell to the ground unconscious.
Players from both teams quickly called for medical staff, who provided first aid to the player on the field for more than five minutes before he was transported by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.
Spanish media reports indicated that the player suffered cardiac arrest while being transported to the hospital before medical teams successfully resuscitated him. He later received treatment in the intensive care unit, but his health deteriorated before his death was announced on Tuesday morning.
The match referee was forced to suspend the game permanently in the second half's stoppage time, following a minutes-long interruption due to the incident, while the score was tied at two goals each.
