Youth Team Coach: Competing for Gulf Title, Aiming for Asian Readiness

The national youth team coach, Anwar Ashour, confirmed the coaching staff's efforts to prepare the team in the best possible way for the U-17 Gulf Cup, despite the short preparation period, noting that the tournament is an opportunity to compete and gain experience before the Asian Cup qualifiers.
This was stated during the press conference for the coaches of the participating teams, held this Thursday in the Qatari capital, Doha, ahead of the competition scheduled from October 16 to November 4, 2026, with 10 teams participating.
Ashour stated that the coaching staff and players have exerted their utmost efforts to reach the best possible level of readiness and to build a team capable of competing in the tournament.
He explained that the preparation program included a domestic training camp in Yemen, followed by an external one in Cairo, before participating in the West Asian Championship in Jordan, which served as an important milestone for enhancing team harmony and improving the players' physical and technical readiness.
The coach noted that participating in the Gulf tournament aims to continue developing the team's performance, gain more experience, and reach the highest level of readiness for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifiers, which are scheduled in Kyrgyzstan.
