Traffic Accident Causes Large Crude Oil Spill in Shabwa
Share:
A tanker loaded with crude oil overturned this Monday morning in a flood channel in the Al-Dila'a area of Shabwa governorate, leading to a large amount of oil spilling at the accident site.
The spill has raised fears of contamination of agricultural soil and groundwater sources, in addition to potential damages whose repercussions could last for years to come.
Local residents have appealed to the local authority and competent bodies to intervene quickly to contain the pollution and assess the damages, to ensure the safety of water and agricultural lands.
This is the second incident of its kind this year involving crude oil transport trucks in Shabwa, following a similar incident last August.
