The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore announced that two Singapore-registered container ships were hit by unknown projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. One sank after catching fire, while the other sustained damage to its hull.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore reported that the vessel "GFS Pride" was hit yesterday, Tuesday, sustaining damage and catching fire before subsequently sinking.

All 21 crew members of the vessel were evacuated to safety, and no injuries were reported.

The authority stated that all 22 crew members are safe and no injuries were reported, noting that it is in contact with the management company of the two ships and is monitoring the situation closely.

Data from the United Nations' International Maritime Organization showed that the "GFS Pride" is the second ship to sink since the start of the American war on Iran on February 28.

In a separate incident, sources reported that another ship, the "Cape Dao" sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, was sinking near the strait after being hit by a projectile on September 23.

The British maritime risk management group Vanguard said in a memo issued today, Wednesday, "The bulk carrier Cape Dao, flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, which was attacked on September 23, is reported to be sinking after a failed rescue attempt."

In a related context, two senior Iranian officials told Reuters that Iran is using new methods to target ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz in an effort to keep oil prices high and influence the US congressional midterm elections.

Attacks have increased in the area around the Strait of Hormuz over the past ten days. Sources clarified that the Singapore-flagged vessel (GFS Pride) has sunk. The GFS Pride is a small container ship with a capacity of 2,824 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).
