Egyptian Foreign Ministry: Bab al-Mandab and Red Sea Are Extensions of Egyptian National Security

Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nader Zaki stated that the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea are direct extensions of Egypt's national security, stressing that Cairo is concerned with their security and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
In remarks to Al Arabiya news channel, Zaki added that the increasing conflicts in the region require expanding the circle of consultation, pointing to the consensus of positions between Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey regarding the regional situation.
He said that Cairo disagrees with the Iranian assessment of its position on the events in Yemen, noting that Egypt encourages a return to the memorandum of understanding and building upon it.
