Fierce Battles on Taiz Fronts as Government Forces Repel Houthi Attacks and Down Two Drones

Taiz Governorate has witnessed a new military escalation, with fierce clashes erupting on several fronts, after the Houthi group launched attacks on government forces' positions, coinciding with artillery shelling targeting residential villages in the eastern and southern countryside of the governorate.
A military source told Al-Mahriah Net that the Houthis launched attacks on the village of Kahlan in the Sabir district and the Al-Aqroudh area in the Al-Misrakh district, coinciding with intense, indiscriminate shelling that targeted the residential villages of Weynan, Al-Shaqab, and Al-Najadah in the eastern countryside of Taiz.
The source added that the government forces and the popular resistance managed to repel and thwart the attacks, following battles that resulted in the deaths of six members of the government forces and resistance, while dozens of attackers were killed or wounded, according to the source.
For its part, the media center of the Yemeni Armed Forces announced that the army forces in the Taiz axis, supported by the popular resistance and warplanes, are engaged in fierce battles against the Houthis on several fronts in the governorate.
The center explained that warplanes launched airstrikes targeting the group's positions and gatherings, resulting in the destruction of a BMB-type military vehicle in Saylat Anqabah in the Bardad area of Sabir.
He added that the airstrikes also targeted Houthi positions and gatherings in Hisn Al-Mukha'af and other sites in the Al-Misrakh district, south of the governorate.
In another field development, the media center announced that the air defenses of the armed forces in the Taiz axis managed to shoot down two Houthi drones on the Sabir front, without providing further details about their mission.
This escalation comes amid continued military confrontations on the Taiz fronts, with the scope of clashes and mutual shelling widening, especially in areas close to the front lines.
The targeting of residential villages raises concerns about the worsening humanitarian situation for the population, amid continued shelling, displacement, and increasing risks threatening civilians in areas adjacent to the fronts.
