Goalkeeper Donnarumma reveals his Ballon d'Or candidate

Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma believes someone is more deserving of the Ballon d'Or than the La Liga duo, Barcelona star Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé.
Following Italy's draw with France in the UEFA Nations League, when asked by the newspaper "L'Équipe" about his top candidate for the Ballon d'Or, Donnarumma said: "For me, Ousmane Dembélé"... his Paris Saint-Germain teammate.
Dembélé won the French league and Super Cup with Paris Saint-Germain, in addition to the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup with the Parisians last season, and most importantly, the UEFA Champions League. He also reached the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup with his national team.
The Italian national team secured a valuable 1-1 draw against hosts France on Friday, during the third round of Group 1 in League A of the UEFA Nations League. The match marked Zinedine Zidane's first appearance in front of his home crowd.
The match featured a remarkable performance from the Italian defense, led by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. This result brought Italy's tally to 4 points, placing them third in the group which also includes Belgium and Turkey, while France increased its total to 7 points to lead the group.
