Oman Forces a Draw Against Iraq in Their 'Khaleeji 27' Opener
The Iraqi and Omani national teams began their journey in the Arab Gulf Cup "Khaleeji 27" with a 1-1 draw, in the match that brought them together as part of the Group A competitions in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
The Iraqi team took an early lead through Mohammed Qassem, who fired a powerful shot from inside the penalty area that found the back of Oman's net in the sixth minute.
The "Lions of Mesopotamia" maintained their lead for over an hour before the Omani team managed to equalize in the 67th minute through Nasser Al-Rawahi, sealing the draw for the match.
Group A, alongside Iraq and Oman, also includes the teams of host Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Meanwhile, Group B includes our national team alongside the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain.
The "Khaleeji 27" competition is being held in the city of Jeddah from September 23 to October 6, with the participation of eight teams.
