Project to Establish a Fishermen's Landing Site in Arsal, Socotra
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries for the Fisheries Planning and Investment Sector, Engineer Yislam Babalghoum, discussed with representatives of the Yanabee' Al-Khair Foundation a project to establish a fish landing site for fishermen in the Arsal area of the Socotra Archipelago Governorate.
The project aims to provide a safe and organized site for fishermen, contributing to the protection of boats and fishing gear, regulating the landing and trade of fish products, and improving working conditions and services related to fishing activities.
Babalghoum stressed the importance of accelerating the project's implementation based on a study that considers the actual needs of fishermen as well as technical and environmental aspects, in addition to introducing boat tracking systems to enhance fishermen's safety at sea.
If implemented, the project will contribute to strengthening the infrastructure of the fisheries sector in Socotra, supporting fishermen, and protecting their lives and property, given the importance of fishing as a primary source of income and livelihood for a large segment of the archipelago's population.
