Real Madrid's Four Goals Against Sevilla Narrow Gap with Barcelona Before El Clásico
Real Madrid narrowed the gap with La Liga leaders Barcelona to six points with a 4-1 victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Sunday evening, a week before the direct clash between the two teams in a top-of-the-table match.
Despite the absence of Vinícius Júnior due to suspension, Real Madrid regained the fluidity in their passing that they had recently lacked. Arda Güler was pivotal to this performance, continuing to drive Real Madrid's best form this season.
Real Madrid moved up to third place with 21 points, one point behind Atlético Madrid, while Sevilla sits in sixth place with 14 points. Coach José Mourinho's team has now secured three consecutive victories since the end of the international break.
In other matches, Osasuna withstood second-half pressure from Racing Santander to win 2-0 in Jagoba Arrasate's first match back as coach. Ionuț Radu made two brilliant saves to deny Alavés a valuable point in their 2-1 loss to Celta Vigo, while Real Sociedad achieved a stunning 5-2 away victory against Málaga.
