Iraq clinches late win, knocking Kuwait out of Gulf Cup 27
The Iraqi national team secured a 3-2 victory over their Kuwaiti counterparts today in the second round of Group A at the Arabian Gulf Cup "Gulf Cup 27," achieving their first win in the tournament and knocking Kuwait out of the competition.
Iraq's victory came in the final minutes of the match, earning them their first three points in the tournament. Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti team suffered its second consecutive loss, becoming the first team to exit "Gulf Cup 27".
Group A includes the teams of Iraq, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The first and second-place teams will qualify for the semi-finals.
The "Gulf Cup 27" competition is being held in Saudi Arabia from September 23 to October 6, 2026, with the participation of eight teams: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Oman, Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar, and Yemen.
