Gold prices saw a rise in Sana'a and Aden on Thursday compared to previous days, despite slight variations from one shop to another.

The price of a gram of 21-karat gold in Aden reached about 181,000 Yemeni rials in the new currency, while in Sana'a it reached about 62 rials in the old currency.

As for the gold sovereign (8 grams, 21-karat), its price exceeded 1,462,000 rials in Aden, while in Sana'a it surpassed half a million rials.

These prices are for buying from citizens, while they increase slightly when sold to customers, as a profit margin is calculated for each gram of the yellow metal.

The exchange rate of the local currency differs between Houthi-controlled areas and government-controlled areas; the dollar exchange rate in Sana'a is about 535 rials, compared to 1,560 rials in areas under the internationally recognized government.

It is noteworthy that gold prices change from time to time and vary relatively from one shop to another in Yemen's markets, depending on global and local market movement, supply, and demand.
