Yemeni astronomer Adnan Al-Shawafi forecasted on Friday rainfall of varying intensity over large areas of eastern Yemen within the next 48 hours, which could become heavy to very heavy in some regions.

In a post on his Facebook page, Al-Shawafi stated that the impact of the moist air mass will expand on Saturday and Sunday (November 7 and 8) to include the Socotra archipelago and the governorates of Al-Mahra and Hadhramaut, with a possibility of extending to Shabwa.

He explained that the expected rainfall will be more widespread and have a higher cumulative average compared to the rainy conditions the country experienced in the last third of last October, noting that the main impact will be on coastal areas, with a possibility of extending to the inland plateaus and parts of the deserts.

He added that the rain may be accompanied by active downdrafts, urging people to follow weather forecasts and warnings issued by the relevant authorities.

Regarding the southwestern and northwestern regions, Al-Shawafi predicted limited rainfall on Saturday, with a relative improvement covering parts of the mountainous highlands and coasts. Rain activity is expected to expand on Sunday to include relatively wider areas of the highlands and parts of the southern coasts.

He indicated that the scope of the rainfall is likely to expand westward in the following days.
