Secret Oil Derivatives Refinery Seized in Shabwa

A joint security campaign seized an illegal refinery for oil derivatives using traditional and unlawful methods in the lower valley of Dhahr district, eastern Shabwa governorate, following investigations and field monitoring that revealed refining activity outside official frameworks.
The seized items included pumps, a network of pipes, tanks, and complete equipment used in random refining operations. Investigations revealed that the site belongs to a person assisted by two other workers residing in the Al-Khasha'a area of Hadhramaut governorate.
The raid came after extensive monitoring and investigation of the suspicious activity, before the security force managed to secure the site and confiscate the equipment and seized items in preparation for completing legal procedures.
Security agencies have begun collecting evidence and preparing the case file to refer the accused and the seized items to the Public Prosecution and competent authorities to take legal action against them.
Security and military units, criminal investigation teams, and forensic evidence teams participated in the operation, led by the commander of the First Shabwa Defense Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Ali Al-Hussein, and the deputy police chief of Dhahr district, Captain Salem Awadh Bahantoush, under the supervision of the governorate's police director, Brigadier General Fouad Mohammed Al-Nassi.
The Shabwa police command confirmed that the operation is part of security efforts to pursue illegal activities and protect public assets, praising the coordination between the participating security and military units.
The operation is part of ongoing security measures in the governorate to combat smuggling activities, tampering with national resources, and reinforcing the rule of law in various districts of Shabwa.
