A Syrian diplomatic source denied the validity of circulating reports about sending Syrian troops to Yemen, clarifying that the military agreements signed with Saudi Arabia are limited to training, exchanging expertise, and military consultations that serve the national interests of both countries, according to the official Syrian Arab News Agency.

The source added to the agency that the agreement with Saudi Arabia focuses on training military forces and building their capabilities. Coordination visits from Saudi Arabia to Syria will begin next month, noting that this cooperation could potentially develop into a joint defense agreement or Syria joining the Mecca Alliance, as required by common interests.

The source affirmed that talk of sending Syrian military forces to Yemen at the present time is baseless, explaining that Syria's priorities in the next phase are focused on consolidating internal security, reconstruction, and achieving economic recovery.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani had previously confirmed the existence of discussions regarding Syria's accession to a regional security and defense system with the Gulf states. In a press statement on October 31, he clarified that these consultations address the "Mecca Alliance" or other security systems that achieve the same goal.
