The national youth team secured its spot in the final of the U-17 West Asian Championship after defeating its Emirati counterpart 2-1 on Saturday evening in the semi-final held at Aqaba Stadium in Jordan.

The national team was quick to score, just nine minutes into the match, following a set piece taken by Sailan Bashir, which an Emirati defender then mistakenly deflected into his own goal.

The Emirati team was awarded a penalty kick after their striker was fouled inside Yemen's penalty area, allowing them to equalize.

The national team did not back down after the equalizer, continuing its offensive pressure and creating several chances until Ali Shafiq Al-Wosabi restored the lead by scoring the second goal in the 40th minute, ending the first half with Yemen leading 2-1.

In the second half, both teams exchanged offensive attempts, with an advantage to the Yemeni team, which had additional opportunities to extend its lead but failed to capitalize on them.

The Yemeni Reds maintained their lead until the final whistle, emerging victorious with a 2-1 score and reaching the final of the West Asian Youth Championship.
