Al-Mahra Teachers Announce Comprehensive Strike, Demand Overdue Payments
Teachers in Al-Mahra Governorate announced on Wednesday a comprehensive strike across all public schools in the governorate's districts, protesting the delayed payment of their salaries and financial dues and demanding the regular payment of overdue salaries and monthly incentives.
The teachers stated that the strike came after a series of demands were met with no response from the concerned authorities, pointing out that teachers are suffering from difficult living conditions due to salaries being delayed for several months and the irregular payment of incentives.
They demanded the regular payment of the monthly incentive and its increase to match the rising cost of living, payment of the rural allowance, career adjustments, annual raises that have been suspended for years, and the establishment of a clear timetable for disbursing their dues.
The teachers affirmed that the strike will continue until all their demands are met, holding the local authority and the Governorate's Education Office responsible for the disruption of the educational process.
For their part, a number of parents and students expressed their concern over the suspension of studies, calling on the local authorities in Al-Mahra and the government to intervene urgently and address the teachers' situation to ensure the continuation of the school year.
