The Emergency Committee in Taiz Governorate announced on Thursday the suspension of studies in all schools, universities, colleges, and institutes located in districts under the control of the Houthi group, and granted government employees working there a paid official leave until further notice.

The committee stated in administrative circular No. (1) for the year 2026 that the decision comes in light of the exceptional security conditions and the impossibility of regular work, affirming that the legal and financial rights and job positions of the employees will be preserved throughout the leave period.

The decision to suspend studies includes public, private, and charter schools, in addition to universities, colleges, institutes, and all educational institutions in those districts, with students being on official leave to ensure their safety.

The committee exempted vital sectors, primarily health, water, and sanitation, to ensure the continuation of minimal services, provided that safe conditions are available and workers are not exposed to danger.

The committee also warned employees and workers in the state's administrative apparatus against responding to any calls, assignments, or directives issued by the Houthi group or its affiliated leaders, noting that violators will be subject to legal, administrative, and disciplinary action.

It stressed that the resumption of work and studies will only occur through an official decision issued by the committee after the security reasons cease to exist, calling on the relevant authorities to adhere to the circular and report any issues to the Emergency Committee.
