GCC Affirms Support for Yemen's Legitimate Government and Political Solution
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, stated that the council supports the legitimate government in Yemen and the pursuit of a political solution based on the agreed-upon references.
This came during his participation in the third plenary session titled "Pillars of Regional Security," on the sidelines of the 22nd Regional Security Summit "Manama Dialogue 2026," on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in the Bahraini capital, Manama.
Al-Budaiwi also expressed his strong condemnation of the Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since last July, which have extended to the cities of Mecca and Medina, stressing that these attacks represent a grave violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, a provocation to the feelings of Muslims worldwide, and a dangerous escalation whose consequences cannot be accepted or tolerated.
He stated that the security of the GCC states is indivisible, and that establishing sustainable regional security requires strict adherence to the principles of international law and respect for the sovereignty of states.
