Fahd Al-Nadhari, Director General of the Health Office in Taiz Governorate, stated that health services are at risk of suspension in 12 hospitals and 18 health centers, in addition to the complete shutdown of 120 health facilities and partial shutdown of 66 in Houthi-controlled districts.

During a meeting with Abdulqawi Al-Mekhlafi, the First Undersecretary of Taiz Governorate, Al-Nadhari pointed out that the continuation of services at two kidney dialysis centers is threatened, despite them providing about 6,300 treatment sessions monthly to around 1,100 patients, warning of the serious humanitarian repercussions of any suspension of these vital services.

He explained that the decline or cessation of health services has affected about 190,000 children under the age of five and approximately 23,000 pregnant women. Meanwhile, over 5,000 children are affected by severe acute malnutrition, and about 28,000 children by moderate acute malnutrition, in addition to more than 9,000 children under one year being deprived of immunization services.

The Director of the Health Office in Taiz highlighted the sharp decline in available stocks of operational and medical supplies, with emergency medicines and medical supplies dropping to 30 percent, fuel to 5 percent, and oxygen to 2 percent. He also noted that 15 ambulances and 22 ICU beds have been looted or damaged, and health facilities have been used as military barracks.

The meeting emphasized that the continuation of this situation threatens the health sector's ability to provide its essential services and exacerbates the humanitarian risks for patients, women, and children, amid an urgent need for interventions to support the health sector and provide medicines, medical supplies, fuel, and oxygen.
