Taiz Authorities Demand International Action to Stop Houthi Shelling of Civilians and Medical Teams

The local authority in Taiz governorate called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take a firm stance against the violations targeting civilians and medical teams, and to act urgently to stop the shelling of residential neighborhoods, protect the population, and hold those responsible accountable.
In a statement on Tuesday, the authority said that the indiscriminate shelling of residential neighborhoods in Taiz city and the villages of Sabir with rockets and artillery shells resulted in civilian casualties, including dead and wounded.
It added that an ambulance was directly targeted in the Al-Sarari area of Al-Misrakh district, killing its driver and injuring several paramedics.
The local authority considered that shelling residential neighborhoods and endangering civilian lives, along with targeting ambulances and medical teams, represents a dangerous escalation and a violation of humanitarian and legal rules that guarantee the protection of civilians and medical personnel during armed conflicts.
The authority held the Houthi group responsible for these incidents and their consequences, calling for ensuring the protection of the population and medical teams, holding those responsible for the violations accountable, and putting an end to impunity.
