Presidential Council member Al-Alimi arrives in New York to present Yemen's position to the UN General Assembly
Presidential Leadership Council member Abdullah Al-Alimi Bawazeer arrived in New York on Monday to participate in the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Al-Alimi is scheduled to deliver Yemen's speech to the General Assembly, addressing the latest political, security, economic, and humanitarian developments, his country's position on regional and international issues, as well as the support needed to back the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government and to strengthen state institutions.
The Yemeni participation focuses on mobilizing more effective international support for the state, enhancing the capabilities of its military and security institutions, protecting ports and territorial waters, combating terrorism and smuggling, and dismantling the financing and arming networks of the Houthis and terrorist organizations.
It also addresses the repercussions of Houthi attacks on neighboring countries and international waterways, including targeting ships and navigation in the Red Sea, and previous attacks on cities and vital facilities in Saudi Arabia and attempts to threaten holy sites, according to the statement.
On the sidelines of the General Assembly meetings, Al-Alimi is scheduled to hold meetings with leaders, heads of delegations, and international officials to discuss developments in Yemen and the region, and to mobilize political, economic, and humanitarian support for the government.
Al-Alimi is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Afrah Al-Zouba.
Upon his arrival, he was received by Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, Yemen's Ambassador to the United States, Jamila Ali Raja, and a number of members of the permanent mission and the Yemeni embassy in Washington.
