Force 808 Reopens Arher Road in Socotra After Over Four Months of Closure
The 808 Support and Backup Force (Saudi), in coordination with the local authority in the Socotra archipelago, has reopened the Arher road connecting the Arsel area and the capital Hadibu, after it was closed for more than four months due to sand accumulation and encroachment on the road caused by monsoon winds.
The force used its equipment to remove accumulated sand dunes and deposits, reopening the road for citizen and vehicle traffic, thus facilitating movement between the connected areas.
The Arher road is a vital route connecting the eastern regions of the archipelago with the capital Hadibu. It also provides access to the Arher area, one of Socotra's most prominent tourist sites.
The sand removal efforts are part of addressing the damage that affects roads during the monsoon season, which frequently causes traffic obstruction and the closure of several roads in the archipelago.
Several residents praised the reopening of the road, stressing that it will help facilitate the movement of citizens, transport of their needs, and access to the eastern regions and tourist sites.
