Journalists Syndicate Demands Release of Detained Journalists in Aden and Taiz
The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has called on the government to immediately release journalists Mohammed Al-Noaman and Yazid Al-Faqih, who it said were arrested in Aden and Taiz over the past two days.
In a statement, the syndicate said it received a report from the journalists' colleagues stating that Al-Noaman was arrested in the city of Aden on Tuesday, and Al-Faqih was arrested in the city of Taiz on Wednesday for expressing solidarity with his colleague.
The syndicate expressed its full solidarity with the journalists, calling on the government to investigate the circumstances of the two incidents and to cease pursuing and arresting journalists outside the law.
It affirmed that issues related to publishing and expression must be handled in accordance with the law, ensuring the protection of press freedom and the right of journalists to practice their profession without intimidation or restriction.
